KAHULUI – The Maui Seasons for Peace organization will celebrate the United Nations’ International Day of Peace with an event to be held on Saturday, Sept. 24, at Queen Ka’ahumanu Center from noon to 7 p.m.

This celebration is held annually by Seasons for Peace to recognize the efforts of those who have worked hard to end conflict and promote peace.

Featured at this event will be local performing groups who represent the large variety of world cultures that live on Maui. The entertainment lineup includes Uncle George Kahumoku Jr., the Kamehameha Schools Ukulele Band, Dance International and other local groups to be announced.

Performances will continue each half hour for the duration of the event.

There will be informational tables set up by the Rotary clubs of Maui, who will be present to meet with the public and share information about international and local projects sponsored by the nine Maui Rotary clubs. Other organizations with informational tables will include Maui Disabilities Alliance and the Junior Youth Empowerment Group.

The purpose of Maui Seasons for Peace is to encourage individuals, groups, schools and organizations in our community to support the awareness and expansion of peace in each of us and the world through its activities, interfaith events and collaborative community partnerships.
