King Kamehameha III School to celebrate May Day

LAHAINA - King Kamehameha III Elementary School will hold its annual May Day Ho'ike on Friday, May 20, at 9 a.m. at Lahaina Civic Center.

The students who will represent the king and queen at this year's festivities are Keanu Kaina and Britney Cacal.

Hawaii Energy, the energy conservation and efficiency program for Hawaii, Honolulu and Maui counties, announced that Brian Kealoha will join the program as its new executive director this month. Kealoha brings more than two decades of energy sector experience to Hawaii Energy, including many years developing and implementing energy programs at Pacific Gas & Electric, Avista Utilities and Maui Electric Company. Most recently, he served as regional director of OpTerra Energy Services/Chevron Energy Solutions.

The royal court representatives are Princesses Taimane Cajudoy, Brianna Doan, Hana Gonzalez, Hana Hongo, Arissa Kahaiali'i, Mele Tasini, Shelsea Wursts and Jennifer Yabo; Princes Moses Flores, Noah Flores, Kainoa Hands, Drew Hufalar, Tevita Kaufononga, Daniel Miranda, John Simon and Inoke Taufa; and Conch Shell Blowers George Kaufononga and Oscar Williams.

The Mistresses of Ceremonies are Alyssa Ferguson and Mauriirani Niles-Cantero.

Volunteers sought for Haleakala service trip

Enthusiastic and fit hikers are sought for a service trip with the Friends of Haleakala National Park in Haleakala Crater on June 11-13.

Volunteers will stay at Kapalaoa Cabin on Saturday and Sunday nights, hiking out Monday. Learn more and register at, then contact the trip leader at (808) 669-8385.


Massachusetts Reunion set

KIHEI - A Massachusetts Reunion & Potluck will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 5, at Kamaole Beach Park III in Kihei.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a Massachusetts potluck dish, wear a Massachusetts Red Sox, Patriots or Celtics T-shirt, and speak Bostonian. A Massachusetts trivia contest will be on the agenda. Prizes will be awarded. For more information, call 280-1299.


Kamp Kumulani slated

KAPALUA - Kamp Kumulani 2016 is coming to the Napilihau Recreation Center for the 18th year from May 30 to June 3.

Hours are 9 a.m. to noon. The program is free for keiki who have completed kindergarten through fifth grade.

This year's theme is "Jesus Sees. Jesus Knows. Jesus Saves." Keiki don't need to sign up ahead of time - just show up! For more information, call Kumulani Chapel at 669-6905.
