Help the Lahainaluna High School Foundation continue its important community programs

March 24, 2016
Lahaina News

The Lahainaluna High School Foundation does great work to support the LHS community.

The brand new Sue D. Cooley Stadium on campus is a monumental achievement, and the foundation helps students by providing annual scholarships, supporting athletics, offering grants and sponsorships to nearly every club, group and sports team at LHS, stocking books in the school library, perpetuating study of the arts and Hawaiian culture and other important efforts.

An easy and fun way to support the Lahainaluna High School Foundation is to attend the fourth annual "Legends of Lahainaluna" awards ceremony.

Set this year for Sunday, April 3, at 5:30 p.m. at the Pioneer Inn, the event was created to honor individuals and businesses that have significantly contributed to Lahainaluna High School and the Lahainaluna community.

This year, the foundation will honor former Principal Michael Nakano for the individual award and TS Restaurants for the business award.

LHSF will also present its posthumous award to Rev. Sheldon Dibble (1809-1845), one of the original teachers at the historic school who is buried in the Lahainaluna High School Cemetery.

The festive event will feature a buffet dinner, two-hour hosted bar, live music performed by former Lahainaluna teacher Al Nip and the awards ceremony.

Tickets for this special event are $100 per person, or $900 for tables of ten (there is a 25 percent discount for Department of Education employees).

To reserve your seats, use the donor form found on the LHSF website at www.lahainalunahighschoolfoundation.org, or call the executive director at 214-2839.

Seating is limited - and the last event sold out - so buy your tickets now.

Help the Lahainaluna High School Foundation continue to support the school that is the heart of the West Side.
