In 1987, the petite entrepreneur started her own business, "Kathy's Got It Maid," and worked it for almost 30 years.

"She gave her clients the special aloha touch that made her business so successful and built a special bond with them that will be very hard to duplicate," said Paul.

Kathy loved the Hawaiian Islands and their beauty. She always gave without any thought of reward and invited everyone in her life with a warm heart.

Paul said, "She was known as 'The Maui Mom.' "

"One of Kathy's favorite pastimes was entertaining at her home in Napili, she affectionately called 'Tara,' " he added.

Kahana resident Toni Alana was Kathy's friend for over 30 years. "She was the kindest, most generous person I know. She was awesome. I don't think there was a person who knew her that she didn't help," Alana recalled.

Kathy is survived by her son, Paul Dilts; his wife, Serena; and their two children, Hayden and Emily.

"She loved her grandchildren Hayden and Emily dearly and would drop anything to hear their voice or a chance to see them on Skype," Paul said.
