KAHULUI – The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Maui will hold the first of monthly spay/neuter clinics for cats on Sunday, Jan. 24, at the SPCA Maui Clinic at 355 Hukilike St. in Kahului.

All cats – including pet, community and ferals – are welcome. All cats will receive flea and tick prevention and a identifying tattoo. Tattoos, microchips and vaccines will also be available.

“Community cat overpopulation is a growing problem on Maui, and the easiest, most cost-effective way we can begin to ‘fix’ the problem is by sterilizing as many cats as we can,” said SPCA Maui Director Peter Tierney.

“Each cat fixed represents thousands of kittens that won’t be born homeless and unwanted on Maui. Our clinics are professional, and our friendly volunteers make it easy to make a difference. Cats are scheduled for morning appointments and are ready to go home that afternoon.”

Surgeries and recovery are conducted in the new clean, sterile, air conditioned surgical suite in Kahului.

For an appointment time or information on fixing a cat, volunteering or to sponsor a “fix,” contact Peter at (808) 280-0738 or info@spcamaui.org, or find Maui SPCA on Facebook.

SPCA Maui is an all-volunteer nonprofit dedicated to a “No More Homeless Pets” Maui.
