Community loses Irene M. Harris

LAHAINA - Irene M. Harris, 64, of Lahaina passed away on Nov. 17, 2015.

She was born in Seattle, Washington, on Oct. 23, 1951, and graduated from Inglemoor High School.

Fresh Island Fish, Hawaii’s largest seafood distribution company, recently named Tim Campbell (pictured) as the company’s chief executive officer. The company’s founder and former C.E.O., Bruce Johnson, will become chairman of the board, with plans to expand the business into emerging markets. Campbell, who is Johnson’s nephew, brings more than 30 years of commercial real estate and marketing experience to the company, most recently serving as the western regional managing director for GE Capital.

She was married to, and predeceased by, Jack Harris, the owner of the Terrace Restaurant located in Kahana.

Irene's career was in banking and finance, and her passions were gardening; her cat, Sam; her family; and the people she loved.

She is survived by her longtime companion, Gary Massey; her daughters, Sarah Schudel-Boyer and Mary Vander Molen; grandchildren Patrick and Shannon Boyer and Kylie, Brooke and Candice Vander Molen; her twin sister, Ilene Stevens of Renton, Washington, and sisters Hannah Pacheco of Taos, New Mexico, and Helen Ellis of Snohomish, Washington. Her sister, Mary Brauer of Ft. Worth, Texas, predeceased her. Services were held on Nov. 30 in Lynnwood, WA.

KAHULUI - Are you a grandparent or other relative raising children? Or do you know one? Join the University of Hawaii at Manoa Cooperative Extension and the Hi`i Na Kupuna Coalition on Saturday, Dec. 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. on the UHMC campus for the monthly Grandfamily Game Night and Potluck Holiday Celebration.

Senior center to host Christmas Village

LAHAINA - Join Kaunoa West Maui for the "Biggest Little Christmas Village" at the West Maui Senior Center, 788 Pauoa St., on Thursday, Dec. 17, from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

The event will feature local entertainment, food booths, crafts and dancing.

Lahaina to celebrate town party

LAHAINA - Lahaina's Second Friday Town Party on Dec. 11 will feature events in Campbell Park from 5 to 8 p.m.

Mano O Laulima Taiko drums will open the program, followed by Body in Balance Keiki Ballerinas. From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Maui Jam will play music.

Na Kamali'i Nani O Lahaina will close the program from 7:30 to 8 p.m. with keiki hula and their Christmas program.

The party will also feature a Maui Island Photo Booth, cookie decorating sponsored by Honolulu Cookie Company, face painting and wood carving demonstrations, and food booths by area non-profits.

Campbell Park is located on Front Street across from the Pioneer Inn. For more information, call the Lahaina Visitor Center at 667-9193.
