WAILUKU - The Japanese Cultural Society of Maui will hold its annual cleanup at the Japanese Gardens at Kepaniwai Park & Heritage Gardens in Iao Valley on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 9 a.m. to noon.

President Shinkai Murakami said, "This is a way to show our appreciation and to pay tribute to our ancestors." Families are encouraged to attend, view the many monuments at the park and share stories of the Japanese immigration with their children. Members and the general public are encouraged to attend, according to event Chair Brian Sato.

Those attending are asked to bring garden tools (a pool skimmer would be helpful), gloves, hat and sunscreen. A complimentary lunch and drinks will be served to all volunteers following the service project. To register, call Priscilla Yamamura at 283-4253 by Sept. 9.
