Lahaina News

LAHAINA - Enjoy a relaxing evening of traditional and contemporary sounds with Josh Kahula and Preston Ako at Lahaina Restoration Foundation's free monthly Hawaiian Music Series concert on Thursday, May 28, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on the Baldwin Home Museum lawn at the corner of Dickenson and Front streets in Lahaina.

Kahula, the lead singer of one of Maui's most popular bands, Nuff Sedd, will perform on guitar. This accomplished musician has composed and arranged most of the songs on Nuff Sedd's records.

The band's cutting-edge sound combines music influences from ska and reggae to funk and R&B, and incorporates classic rock, alternative and pop sounds.

As a Hawaiian music soloist, Kahula has performed with many popular Hawaiian artists and plays for weddings.

Ako performs as part of the Ako Trio with his father, Sam (a Hawaiian music legend), and younger brother John. Preston is a versatile musician, playing ukulele and guitar.

Together, Kahula and Preston's harmonious voices have captured the hearts of many, and their seamless presentation of Hawaiian music resonates through each performance.

Limited seating is provided for kupuna; blankets, mats and low beach chairs are welcome.
