LAHAINA - Former Lahaina resident Herbert "Herb" I. Sigwell, 91, died peacefully on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 in Laguna Hills, California.

In a wonderful gesture of Maui-style sportsmanship, Lady Lunas coach Lei Nakamura gathered the senior players from both Lahainaluna High School and arch-rival Baldwin for a photo moment after the Lady Bears won the MIL regular season championship with a stirring 3-2 victory last Wednesday night at the Lunas’ home field. The MIL postseason tournament to determine the overall champion will be played this week at Patsy Mink Field in Kahului at Maui High School. Both teams have qualified for the state tournament to take place in early May at Rainbow Wahine Stadium in Honolulu. PHOTO BY WALTER CHIHARA.

Herb managed McKesson Liquor, worked at Lahaina Upholstery and then had his own taxi service. His wife, Barbara, died in 1985, and Herb moved to California to be closer to his daughters.

His daughter, Patti Link, moved back to Lahaina with her husband, Mort Krajec. Her sister, Jeri Leahy, husband Brian and daughter Holly Viloria from California will be in Lahaina for Herb's private celebration of life to be held on Lei Day, Friday, May 1, with scattering of ashes at sea in Lahaina. Remembrances can be sent to patti@mauiadvertising.com.
