KIHEI – ProArts is proud to present the Maui premiere of “Vanya & Sonya & Masha & Spike,” Christopher Durangs’s hilarious and heartwarming comedy.

The winner of the 2013 Tony Award for Best Play, the production was called “deliriously funny” by a critic with The New York Times.

Vanya and Sonia have never left the confines of their childhood home in Bucks County, PA, while sister Masha has been gallivanting around the world as a successful actress.

A surprise visit from Masha and her 20-something boy toy, Spike, throws the normally quiet household into utter upheaval, as residents and visitors get swept up in an intoxicating mixture of lust, rivalry, regret and the sudden possibility of escape.

The show plays on weekends through April 19. Performances are held Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m., with Sunday matinees at 3 p.m.

Directed and produced by Jonathan Lehman, the show features a stellar roster of Maui talent, including John Peterson as Vanya, Barbara Sedano as Sonia, Jennifer Rose as Masha, Tommy Hackett as Spike, Abigail Perrin as Nina and Jett Robidoux as Cassandra.

Reserved seat tickets are $22 each. The play will be presented at the ProArts Playhouse located at the Azeka (Makai) Shopping Center at 1280 S. Kihei Road.

This production is suitable for adult audiences. For information, or to purchase tickets, call 463-6550.
