By Staff | Jul 24, 2014

KAHULUI – Learn how to live a more rewarding lifestyle that leads to longevity and happiness at the 17th annual First Hawaiian Bank Maui PrimeTime Wellness Fair. The bank sponsors this annual event as a community service to Maui residents and visitors.

The fair will be held on Tuesday, July 29, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at Maui Lani, 1300 Maui Lani Parkway. The opening ceremony begins at 8:15 a.m., and the event will run from 8:30 a.m. until noon. Admission is free and open to the public.

There will be 50 exhibitor booths providing the latest information to help you make informed choices about a healthy lifestyle. Nine new vendors will offer information on caregiver options, insurance and more specific medical conditions.

There will be free health screenings for glucose and cholesterol, blood pressure, body mass index and nutritional screenings. For more accurate readings of glucose and cholesterol, it is recommended that attendees fast for a minimum of eight hours prior to their screening.

Paula Keele from the Maui County Office on Aging will demonstrate Enhanced Fitness exercise – a low-cost, highly adaptable program designed especially for older adults of all ability levels. The one-hour classes include stretching, strengthening exercises and low-impact aerobics to increase a person’s flexibility and balance.

To help prevent identity theft, the Better Business Bureau of Hawaii will present tips for seniors on protection against financial schemes. Access Information Management will offer free and confidential document shredding for up to two bankers’ boxes per person.

Attendees will have the opportunity to talk story with Mayor Alan Arakawa in “County on Your Corner” from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Enjoy door prizes, games and live entertainment by the senior ukulele group Pennies from Heaven and Kaunoa Southside Kupuna Hula Group. The grand prize drawing will be for a $200 gas gift card courtesy of Mid Pacific Petroleum and 76 Hawaii.

Along with First Hawaiian Bank, the Maui PrimeTime Wellness Fair is co-sponsored by the Maui County Office on Aging, ADRC Hawaii and Clinical Laboratories of Hawaii LLP. For more information, call 873-2241.
