WAILUKU - The talented teens of Maui Academy of Performing Arts' Teen Summer Musical Theatre Camp will present the high-energy musical "Fame" in Steppingstone Playhouse one weekend only, July 25-28.
With a rock score that includes the hit songs "Fame," "Dancing on the Sidewalk" and "Bring on Tomorrow," the musical follows a group of students through the ups and downs of high school at New York's High School of Performing Arts in the early 1980s.
The show is the culmination of MAPA's Teen Musical Theatre Camp that offers over 200 hours of intensive training in acting, dancing and singing each summer.

This year's camp includes 39 students from 12 different Maui schools and one from the Mainland. The camp is made possible through the generous support of Auriol Naquin Flavell, Hawaii Community Foundation Donor Advised Funds and 48 additional donors who attended MAPA's Red Carpet Mystery Fundraiser this past spring.
The teen performers have been training and rehearsing daily all summer under the expert guidance of Director Sally Sefton, Musical Director Marti Kluth, Choreographer Rebecca Owen, Teaching Artist Dylan Bode and Stage Manager Tina Kailiponi.
The designers for "Fame The Musical" include Kathleen Schulz for costumes, Caro Walker for set and Christina Sutrov for lighting. The cast will be accompanied by a live band.
Rated PG for language and drug references, "Fame The Musical" is recommended for ages 12 and up.
"Fame" runs July 25-28 on Thursday and Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at 3 and 7:30 p.m.
