Lahaina News

LAHAINA - Great live Hawaiian music continues on Front Street with the Hawaiian Music Series on Thursday, July 25, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on the Baldwin Home lawn in Lahaina.

This month will feature a hana hou (encore) performance by cha-lang-a-lang extraordinaire Kawika Ho'opi'i accompanied by Brandon Hirata and Po'okela Wood.

Expect another outstanding performance done in the true Hawaiian fashion, with traditional music and hula dancers plucked out of the audience to perform some of Hawaii's favorite songs.

Kawika Ho‘opi‘i’s extraordinary falsetto voice and cha-lang-a-lang style of playing the ukulele have taken him all over the country and accompanied Hawaii entertainers such as Hawaiian Heart, Amy Hanaiali‘i, Willie K and The Leo Nahenahe Serenaders.

Coming from a family with deep roots in Hawaiian music, Ho'opi'i continues to carry on the traditional style of music that surrounded him in Kahukuloa Valley, where he was raised.

Relax under the stars and enjoy the free concert brought to you by Lahaina Restoration Foundation. The combination of great live Hawaiian music, award-winning restaurants and vibrant shops create a great setting for a perfect evening out on the town.

Chairs are limited, so blankets, mats and low beach chairs are welcome. The Baldwin Home Museum is located in the heart of Lahaina on the corner of Front and Dickenson streets.

This concert is part of the foundation's ongoing Hawaiian Music Series program supported by the Hawaii Tourism Authority and the county Office of Economic Development. For more information, call Lahaina Restoration Foundation at 661-3262.
