WAILUKU - Lyn McNeff, CEO of Maui Economic Opportunity Inc., last week announced that MEO is actively seeking to hire qualified para-transit drivers for its seniors transportation and mobility-limited persons transportation program.
To obtain application information, call 249-2990 or go online to hr@ meoinc.org.
"This is an excellent opportunity to be employed and serve the community at the same time," said McNeff.
“Almost since its earliest days, MEO has had a transportation component, and our wheelchair accessible transportation came about from direct community advocacy for the service,” said Lyn McNeff, CEO of Maui Economic Opportunity Inc.
She noted that she has increased the visibility of MEO's hiring campaign as the most effective way to meet the standards of service that have been the hallmark of MEO for 48 years.
The agency celebrates 50 years of service to Maui County in 2015.
"We knew that there would be a period of transition when we were finally granted full operational control of the para-transit bus service on the morning of July 1, and that staffing up to full levels would be a challenge. The former grantee did not initially downsize, and it has taken additional time for our job opportunities to fully penetrate the potential hiring base," she said.
"We began initial operational development planning in March of 2013, and that period of approximately four months concluded on July 1, 2013. We are now in a planned 30-day period of operational integration, among other things, educating new hires on the MEO culture of service, staffing up and potential route adjustments," she continued.
"Following the 30-day period ending July 31, 2013, we will continue with a monthly planned service evaluation and make any necessary changes that may emerge going forward.
"MEO appreciates the suggestions made by our riders. We thank them for their ideas and support as we transition our services," McNeff concluded.
