Chapel to hold Harvest Festival

KAPALUA - Kumulani Chapel will host its Harvest Festival for keiki on Tuesday, Oct. 30, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Hale Hokulani in Kapalua on Office Road across from Sansei.

Keiki through fifth grade are encouraged to dress in friendly costumes to enjoy game booths, prizes, candy, hot dogs, popcorn, jumping castles and a few surprises! Admission is free.

At 2:04 p.m. on Sunday, Maui Fire Department responded to a half-acre brush fire along Honokohau Valley Road. Water supply and access were issues for firefighters. The fire, which was called extinguished at 5:39 p.m., reached as close as 15 feet to three homes. Occupants were evacuated, but there was no damage to the homes. A storage shed was scorched for an estimated $500 in damages. 

This year, the chapel is encouraging families to bring canned or nonperishable food donations for Feed My Sheep. For information, call 669-6905.

Maui Brewing Co. to host benefit

KAHANA - Maui Brewing Co. at Kahana Gateway will host another "Wag Your Tails for Maui Ales!" event on Friday, Oct. 26, from 6 p.m. to midnight.

Maui Brewing Co. will donate half of the night's profits from its beers to Hawaii Canines for Independence. HCI provides people with physical disabilities specially trained dogs that give them the freedom and confidence to live more independent lives. Call 669-3474.

Hula Grill to host costume contest

KAANAPALI - On Tuesday, Oct. 30, Hula Grill Kaanapali in Whalers Village will offer all costumed customers 25 percent off food during its "Night Before Halloween Costume Contest."

The family-friendly Halloween event kicks off with a keiki costume contest at 6 p.m., followed by an adult contest at 7:30 p.m. Contest entry is free. For information, call 667-6636.

Celebrate 'Roktoberfest'

KAANAPALI - The Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa will celebrate "Roktoberfest" at Umalu on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 5:30 to 10 p.m.

Fall Celebration Weekend set

LAHAINA - Visit Lahaina Gateway for its "Pineapples & Pumpkins" Fall Celebration Weekend, featuring a fun charity event and Keiki Trick-or-Treat Night.

On Friday, Oct. 26, Women Helping Women's "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Men of all ages are encouraged to enter this important domestic violence awareness event. Shoes are provided, or bring your own fun women's shoes to walk in. Entry fee is a $10 donation to WHW. The first 200 entrants receive a free T-shirt. Also on Friday, Barnes & Noble will host a local author signing: John Briley of "Seafoam Wavefollower and the Mysterious Ghost" at 4 p.m., and Passion 4 Fashion Boutique will hold "Chocolate & Shopping" from 5 to 9 p.m., with 15 percent off select items. On Saturday, Oct. 27, Lahaina Gateway will hold a Keiki Trick-or-Treat Night for keiki ages 12 and under. From 4 to 6 p.m., kids can enjoy trick-or-treating at participating stores. Menehune teams to hold tryouts

LAHAINA - Tryouts for the Lahaina Boys and Girls Menehune Basketball Teams will be held on Monday, Oct. 29, through Friday, Nov. 2, from 4 to 6 p.m.

Boys will tryout at the 505 Front Street courts, and the girls tryouts will be held at the Lahainaluna High School Basketball Courts. Call 661-4685.
