Support three community efforts on Saturday

By Staff | Aug 16, 2012

West Siders can help three community groups in one easy stop on Saturday, Aug. 18.

Pre-sale tickets for ono huli huli chicken are being sold as a joint fundraiser by members of Lahaina Hongwanji Mission, Lahaina Intermediate School’s Eighth Grade Science Honors Class and the Lahaina Red Raiders Wrestling Club.

The cost of the half-split chicken is $7. All ticket redemptions and cash sales will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. at Lahaina First Hawaiian Bank along Papalaua Street. Proceeds from the sale will assist Lahaina Hongwanji Mission with its ongoing renovation and maintenance projects.

Lahaina Intermediate’s eighth grade science class, directed by teacher Tony Griffith, hopes to raise funds for their annual visit to the Challenger Center at Barber’s Point Elementary School on Nov. 8. They will be actively participating in a simulated launching of a mission to the moon.

And coach Terry Shibao of the Red Raiders Wrestling Club is fundraising to purchase a new wrestling mat for his club’s keiki wrestlers (age four to eighth grade) for the start of the March wrestling season.

For more information, or to purchase tickets, contact Terry Shibao at 385-3149 or “Noosh” Nishihara at 870-6478.
