LAHAINA - Lahaina Public Library will close at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11, for approximately eight weeks, according to the Hawaii State Public Library System.
Volunteers will begin packing books, and contractors will start work a week later to complete a major facelift sponsored by the Rotary Club of Lahaina and Maui Friends of the Library.
The project involves replacing the tile floor in the public area of the library, purchasing all new bookcases and computer tables, painting the interior and building a new circulation desk. Local contractors are donating much of the labor involved.
Call Lahaina Public Library at 662-3950 for more information, including procedures on returning books.
