KAHULUI - TOBE Co. Food Safety will hold a ServSafe Certification Class on Monday, Aug. 6, at the University of Hawaii Maui College.
The class starts at 8 a.m.; most students will be finished with the exam by about 5 p.m.
Tom Frigge, president of TOBE Co., said, "With new food safety regulations for restaurants starting later this year, this class is great preparation and a must for managers who want to stay ahead of the requirements."
A summary of the upcoming new regulations can be found at TOBECoFoodSafety.com.
Since TOBE is an approved trainer in the state Employment & Training Fund program, 50 percent tuition assistance may be available, making the cost $86. To find out if you qualify, call Frigge at (808) 235-0797.
"We haven't had a class on Maui for over a year, so we expect this one to sell out," Frigge said.
ServSafe, the Food Safety Training curriculum developed by the National Restaurant Association, is considered the gold standard for restaurant manager training. Anyone who passes the test will receive ServSafe certification and meet any upcoming State Health Department training requirements.
