LAHAINA - Explore the back streets of Lahaina on May 11 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Lahaina's Second Friday celebration.

Lahaina may, at first glance, seem like just another seashore town. But this picturesque area is full of life and brimming with history.

Many hidden treasures exist in Lahaina. Kama'aina and visitors are invited to discover them Friday.

The Hard Rock Cafe Maui in Lahaina will host “Embrace Life for Trek Atlas,” a benefit concert for Trek, who is battling Niemann-Pick Type A. The fund-raiser on Saturday, May 12, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. will feature a special performance by singer/songwriter Chad Van Herk, silent auction and family fun. All proceeds will directly benefit Trek and his family for medical and living expenses. For information, visit www.babytrekatlas.com. Hard Rock Cafe is located at 900 Front St.

"Concert in the Park" presented by LahainaTown Action Committee will be held in Campbell Park next to the Baldwin Home on Front Street. Maui Jam will play from 5 to 6:30 p.m., followed by Mike Kollwitz from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

LAC partners with Lahaina restaurants to sponsor West Side keiki non-profits. Campbell Park will come alive with local grinds, crafts and the LAC Country Food Store at Second Friday.

This month beneficiaries are Waiola Church; Lahaina Canoe Club's Keiki Program; Boys & Girls Club of Maui, Lahaina Club; Na Ki'a i O Waine'e; Lahaina Swim Club; Lahainaluna High School Wrestling Team and Project Graduation; and West Maui Soroptimists.

There will also be live music with Evan Shulman from 6 to 8 p.m. on the Hard Rock Cafe patio, Maui guitarist Lui Williams from 6 to 8 p.m. on The Wharf Cinema Center's stage, Willie K at Kimo's from 8 to 10 p.m., Bob Jones and the Drive from 8 to 10:30 p.m. at Captain Jack's Island Grill and Visibly Shaken from 9:30 to 11:30 p.m. at Moose McGillycuddy's. Cool Cat Cafe, the Pioneer Inn and Longhi's will also host live music.

Explore Lahaina's unique history with Lahaina Restoration Foundation's "Ha'ina Hou!" (Let the Story be Told), with fun activities for the whole family slated at the Baldwin Home and Wo Hing museums on Front Street.

Enjoy songs and dances of yesteryear with Na Kupuna 'Ohana Serenaders on the Baldwin Home Museum lawn on the corner of Front and Dickenson streets at 7:30 p.m.

Challenge your athletic agility in the sport of ping pong or test your skill at mahjong, as the Wo Hing Museum, 858 Front St., hosts Game Night starting at 6:30 p.m. Come learn the history of these Chinese games.

In addition, LRF's popular candlelit tour of the Baldwin Home will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at a special "Ha'ina Hou!" admission of $5 per person, which also includes a tour of the Wo Hing Museum. Children accompanied by a paying adult are free. Call 661-3262.

For "Friday Night is Art Night" in Lahaina, Peter Lik Gallery will have Deejay Scotty D playing music, special promotions on art, wine and light pupus; Maui Hands will feature Joel P. Heinz Sr. creating live in the gallery from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.; Lahaina Galleries will host Dario Campanile and Steve Turnbull and serve wine; Village Gallery will serve refreshments and feature the artwork of Kirk Kurokawa, Wanda Russell and Lahainaluna High School senior class art students; Images Fine Art Gallery will host seven local artists from 6 to 10 p.m., along with wine and live music; Longhi's Artisan Fair will showcase local Made on Maui artwork, photography, jewelry, accessories, clothing, home goods and more from 5 to 10 p.m.; and local artist Joelle C. will demonstrate her most recent technique of painting with oils and acrylics on hand-carved wood from 6 to 10 p.m. in her new gallery space just steps away from the ocean at The Shops of 505 Front Street.
