Learn about Alzheimer’s

By Staff | Apr 12, 2012

LAHAINA – Janis Casco, the owner of Casco Wealth Management LLC, will host a discussion open to the public on understanding the difference between age-based memory loss and Alzheimer’s disease.

Lynsey Capone, program coordinator for the Alzheimer’s Association Aloha Chapter, will present a talk on knowing the ten early warning signs of Alzheimer’s onset.

“The warning signs of Alzheimer’s disease are often dismissed as side effects of normal aging. If you or someone you know is experiencing memory loss or behavioral changes, it’s time to learn the facts,” Capone said.

The presentation will cover how to tell the difference between Alzheimer’s and typical aging, steps to take if you recognize a warning sign in yourself or someone you know, the process to receiving an Alzheimer’s diagnosis and why early detection is crucial.

The educational event will be held on Wednesday, April 18, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the West Maui Senior Center at 788 Pauoa St. along Lahainaluna Road. Call Casco at 667-5599 to register.
