Dennis Ryan has studied the early currency system of China for over 30 years. He has traveled to Maui every year since 1997 and generously donated a collection of Chinese coins to the Lahaina Restoration Foundation’s exhibit at the Wo Hing Museum.

The Wo Hing Museum will feature a lecture by Dennis Ryan on the history of Chinese coins at 6:30 p.m. His presentation will focus on coins of the Yuan and Ming Dynasties.

The Baldwin Home Museum will feature a video presentation by renowned underwater photographer Flip Nicklin - widely regarded as the world's leading cetacean photographer - at 7:30 p.m.

Nicklin grew up around his father's small dive shop on the California coast. He went on to become National Geographic's premiere whale photographer and marine mammal specialist. In the past 30 years, he has photographed more than 30 species of whales and dolphins - some so endangered that their survival is in question.

Ryan will present his lecture in the Cookhouse at the Wo Hing Museum, and Nicklin's presentation will be held on the Baldwin Home lawn. Candlelit tours will be held at the Baldwin Home from 6 to 8:30 p.m., and tours will be offered at the Wo Hing Museum.

The special "Ha'ina Hou" museum admission price is $5 per adult, which allows admission to both museums. Kids 12 and under will be admitted free.
