Seminar to cover caring for returning soldiers

By Staff | Feb 9, 2012

WAIEHU – Point Man International Ministries will hold a “Special Care for the Returning Veteran” seminar on Saturday, Feb. 11, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Wailuku Door of Faith Church. Admission is free.

Ed Gazmen, one of the event’s organizers, stated that “Point Man International Ministries’ mission is to provide training and resources to local churches, pastors and ministry teams on how to care for wounded warriors, veterans and their family members.”

PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) will be covered by Dr. Richard MacDonald from the Kahului VA Clinic, and Dr. Robert Santry, master coach from Life and Success Adventures, will discuss aftercare for returning veterans.

Other critical issues for wounded soldiers – such as domestic violence, veteran homelessness and suicide prevention – will be addressed by presenters from the community.

Continental breakfast and lunch will be served. Wailuku Door of Faith is located at 432 Waiehu Road. Call Gazmen at 276-8373 for more information.
