Get a sweet treat for giving blood

The public is invited to the Grand Opening Celebration of Kingwell Island Art Studio’s new location on Wednesday, Dec. 28. Located at 834 Front St., #103 (previously the Lahaina Used Book Emporium), Jim Kingwell’s working studio is open. WAILUKU – During the season of gratitude and giving, Maui donors who help meet the needs of Hawaii’s patients by giving the ultimate gift of life on the following dates will receive a special “Pint-for-a-Pint coupon, which is redeemable for a pint of ice cream at participating Baskin-Robbins stores.

The blood drive will be held at Maui Economic Opportunity, Classroom 1-2, on Dec. 26 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Dec. 27 from 7 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., Dec. 28 from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Dec. 29 from 7 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.

The donation process is safe and usually takes about an hour. A confidential interview and a mini-physical are administered, but the actual collection of blood takes only five to eight minutes.
