The evening will be a tapestry of live music, song and storytelling from their travels to Nepal, Tibet, India and Africa (where Mortifee was born), and readings from her new book, “In Love With the Mystery,” accompanied by Horn’s beautifully uplifting flute music.

Advance tickets are on sale for $20 per person at www.ticketderby.com and through www.whenthemountaincalls.com.

Tickets will also be sold at the door an hour prior to the performance at Makawao Union Church, which is located on Baldwin Avenue about two-and-a-half miles up the road from Paia.

Horn’s illustrious career spans five decades, 50 albums, five Grammy nominations and two Grammy Awards.

He studied in India with the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and became one of the first 12 teachers in the Transcendental Meditation Movement in the United States.

His album, “Inside the Taj Mahal,” became the seminal recording that heralded the start of a new genre of music and earned him the title of the “Father of New Age Music.”

A legend in jazz, Horn has played his flute for millions all over the globe and with world-famous musicians, including Ravi Shankar, Duke Ellington, Quincy Jones, Donovan, Miles Davis, Chick Corea, Nat King Cole, Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra.

Mortifee is one of Canada’s most unique artists. With her extraordinary four-octave voice, she has performed in solo concerts and with symphony orchestras around the world, as well as in concert with musical legends such as Harry Belafonte, John Denver, Ramsey Lewis, Bobby McFerrin, Michael Legrande and Chief Dan George.
