The audience is the chorus at ‘Sing-It-Yourself Messiah’

KIHEI – Celebrate the start of your holiday season with “Sing-It-Yourself Messiah,” a beloved Christmas tradition.

Maui Choral Arts Association will begin its ninth season with this renowned singing extravaganza on Sunday, Nov. 27, at 4 p.m. at the Kihei Baptist Chapel.

Some 400 audience members will join hearts and voices to sing the glorious choruses of Handel’s masterpiece. Celia Canty conducts a 12-piece chamber orchestra and the audience.

Guest artists Lisa Paulson, Karyn Sarring and Robert E. Wills will sing the solos.

Join your community for this memorable and exhilarating event, for the sheer joy of making music together!

The first half is Part I of Handel’s “Messiah,” and the second half features several traditional Christmas carols that the audience will sing with the orchestra.

Suzuki Maui students under the direction of Teresa Skinner will perform during intermission and assist with the Hallelujah Chorus.

The Maui Concert Chorus and University of Hawaii Maui College Chorus will perform an uplifting arrangement of the calypso-carol “The Virgin Mary Had a Baby Boy.”
