Residents urged to conserve water

By Staff | Oct 20, 2011

WAILUKU – Mayor Alan Arakawa last week released a message on behalf of the Department of Water Supply.

He noted, “It has been a wet summer in Maui County, but this rainfall still needs about six months to reach our aquifers.

“In the meantime, the county continues to deal with growing water demand issues. For that, we ask the community to help protect our county’s most valuable resource by conserving water.

“Taking small steps, such as taking shorter showers, fixing leaky irrigation and watering your plants in the early morning or late in the afternoon can create substantial savings.

“Just remember, if everyone saves a little, together we can save a lot.”
