MAKENA — The fourth annual “Chefs on the Beach” from 2 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, will raise funds for seven Maui nonprofit organizations and community service projects planned by the event’s sponsor, the Rotary Club of Maui.

Held on the shoreline at Honua Kai Lani Beach Estate in Makena, “Chefs on the Beach” features dishes from a dozen different restaurants and wines donated by Alan Jahns & JMD Beverages.

Guests will park at the Makena Beach Resort, where a shuttle will pick them up for the ride to the estate. Property owner Joe Sugarman donates use of the beachfront estate for this outdoor event, with the various restaurants set up in tents offering samples of a variety of dishes.

Nonprofit groups that will benefit from the event include Maui Youth & Family Services/Malama Family Recovery Center, Hospice Maui, Friends of the Children’s Justice Center of Maui, Maui Family Support Services, Women Helping Women, Imua Family Services and Ka Hale A Ke Ola Homeless Resource Center.

In addition to an afternoon of food and wine, guests will be able to bid on a wide range of items and services in a silent auction. Entertainment will be provided by Fulton Tashombe, Benoit Jazz Works with Phil and Angela Benoit and the Hawaiian Serenaders with Rich Tom and Mele Fong.
