Lahaina News
LAHAINA — The Princess Cruise Line will host a special fundraising event on Sunday, March 6, to celebrate the growth of the Ka Ipu Kukui Fellows program.

The yearlong program is designed to support community-identified future leaders.

Guests are invited to dine with past and current Ka Ipu Kukui Fellows during this luncheon benefit, which will feature gourmet food and wine, a behind the scenes cruise ship tour, live music and a silent auction, all while enjoying stunning views of West Maui.

Guests will board the tender at Lahaina Harbor at 10 a.m. and depart from the cruise ship at 2 p.m. Photo identification is required.

Tickets are on sale now for $65. Purchases at the event are tax-deductible. Tickets are available through Feb. 25. For more information, contact Angela Gannon at (808) 357-4867.

A Decisions Maui and Focus Maui Nui initiative, the Ka Ipu Kukui Fellows program was conceived to promote and develop future leaders through a community-based program designed to address planning for Maui Nui’s future. It is currently hosting its fourth class.

For six days in January, 14 volunteers with the Global Village program joined Habitat for Humanity Maui to build a new house in Waiohuli, Kula, and to renovate the ReStore in Wailuku. Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. (Sales Manager Jennifer Carvalho is fourth from left), Aloha Mixed Plate and Mattie Kukahiko-Kaeo provided lunches for the many volunteers that joined Habitat for Humanity throughout the week. Maui Nui Botanical Gardens and Olowalu Cultural Reserve provided some insight into Hawaiian culture through native plant education. Habitat for Humanity’s Global Village program allows volunteers to experience another culture while making a difference in the lives of others. For more information on building with Habitat for Humanity, helping to sponsor lunches or to sharing culture with visiting groups, call 242-1140 or e-mail info@habitat-maui.org.
