The grand opening of the 736 Front St. restaurant is set for Tuesday, Nov. 16.
“We’re excited to be a part of Lahaina Town — we think it’s going to be a great fit. We want our guests to know they don’t have to travel the country to find some great barbecue — we’ve brought it to Lahaina for them,” said Prashant Sharan, vice president of operations of Famous Dave’s in Lahaina.
Famous Dave’s founder Dave Anderson explained that he is considering using local beef and produce, as most of the food on Famous Dave’s menu is prepared fresh.
Famous Dave’s barbecue features award-winning hickory smoked St. Louis-style spare ribs, Texas beef brisket, Georgia chopped pork and a variety of signature sauces that represent various regional barbecue flavors.
Its menu also includes barbecue and country roasted chicken, BBQ sandwiches, burgers and salads, as well as homemade side dishes and home-style desserts. The menu has some local favorites as well, including iron cast Spam and mac salad.
Having won over 500 awards for everything from best sauce to best ribs to best cookbook, Famous Dave’s has received wide acclaim and praise from guests and critics alike.
Famous Dave’s Rib Team regularly competes in rib competitions across the country and has raked in first place awards at the Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-Off in Sparks, Nevada; the Southern Florida Championship Cook Off in Jupiter; and the Great American Rib Cook-Off in Ohio, just to name a few.
“We look forward to being a part of the Lahaina area and providing residents with not only just great food, but also a place for some down-home fun,” Sharan said.
The restaurant is expected to hire more than 100 employees. Management is working closely with Maui Economic Opportunity Inc. to find local applicants.
