THERE’S A CAT FOR THAT
June is National Cat Adoption Month, and whatever your need, “there’s a cat for that” at the Maui Humane Society! This time of year is “kitten season,” and MHS receives a flood of felines during this time — around 500 a month. That’s an average of 16 cats a day coming to the shelter!
Now is the perfect time to add a cat to your family, as MHS is offering some incentives for prospective adopters. For qualified, loving homes, we will waive the adoption fee on cats over 2 years old. Kittens are adorable, but there are many reasons to choose an adult cat. Mature cats are calmer and require less supervision (and patience) than kittens, and an adult cat has already established its personality, making it easier to identify a cat that’s a good match for your own personality and lifestyle. Or, if you do want a kitten, why not adopt two to keep each other company? For two young cats/kittens (under age 2) MHS will charge only one adoption fee.
Of course, our adoption staff will ensure that any interested adopters will provide a loving home and understand that costs of ongoing care are part of responsible pet ownership. And as always, an MHS adoption includes a free veterinary exam, initial vaccinations, and spay/neuter surgery.
So, need someone to take a nap with? There’s a cat for that! How about a new best friend? There’s a cat for that! A lap warmer for cool evenings? A good listener who won’t interrupt you? Or maybe even an alarm clock to wake you in the morning?.there’s a cat for that, too! Visit the shelter to select the best cat for you!
